I am working exclusively with a global logistics business based in West London who are currently seeking a Finance Director to join the team, focusing on the Northern European business.
This role will be responsible for the management and development of the Northern Europe finance function, implementing a best-in-class framework and organizational design, providing guidance, leadership, and development to the Finance team. Reporting into the Group CFO and Regional Manager, responsibilities will include:
- Management of accurate accounting and financial controls of the Northern European region, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policy across Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, and the UK.
- Develop and implement financial systems, controls, and procedures to improve financial performance.
- Management of budgeting and forecasting processes, engaging with the group and business partnering with Northern Europe leadership.
- Management of working capital, providing guidance to the regional countries on new policies, internal controls, and accounting policies.
- Collect, compile, and measure financial and non-financial reports and present them to leadership.
- Lead improvements with regional management to increase profitability and productivity, developing financial projects in creating short- and long-term financial goals and strategies.
- Challenge business cases to identify and justify investments.
- Analyse, challenge, and validate processes for existing and new customer contracts.
- Oversee tax compliance activities within the region.
- Standardize financial systems and processes within the region in line with group policy.
- Optimize finance function cost and efficiency impact through organization and digitalization/process automation.
- Team management, development, and leadership of the finance team.
The ideal candidate will be degree educated and will have obtained a further accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Candidates will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience gained in a Finance function, and experience working within transport/shipping/freight forwarding/logistics would be highly beneficial. Strong Technical Financial & Management accounting skills are essential, combined with process aptitude and demonstrable experience of scaling up in a growth or high-change business environment. Previous experience working in an international environment is desirable, and strong systems capabilities are a must – with proven ability in leveraging systems to enhance business performance.
