I'm supporting a well-established business in Leeds who are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis for 3-6 months. This is a key role sitting between the Payroll Administrator and Payroll Manager, ensuring the smooth, accurate, and compliant delivery of payroll across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Run weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy at point of payment
- Maintain employee records across time & attendance systems or Excel
- Process starters, leavers, variations, and wage changes
- Manage the payroll inbox and ensure correct filing of documents
- Handle BACS processing, reconciliations, and period-end payroll tasks
- Update tax codes, deductions, and student loans from HMRC
- Ensure RTI submissions and P32s are completed accurately and on time
- Administer pensions across multiple schemes and submit payments
- Collate and process AOE payments, CSA schedules, and childcare vouchers
- Produce P45s and resolve payroll queries and corrections
- Liaise with Accounts teams and ensure all payroll data is stored correctly
About You
- Several years' experience in payroll processing
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and statutory payments
- Confident with payroll systems and advanced Excel
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information
- Comfortable working independently and within a busy team
