Our client is an international leader in its field. A well-established manufacturing business with nice offices in Bristol and a medium sized finance function. The role is a fixed term contract for 12 months, supporting the delivery of accurate management accounts, overhead control, and commercial financial analysis. There is also the potential for it to become permanent.

Role responsibilities

  • Manage month-end close for overhead accounts, including accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare overhead reports and provide commentary to help budget holders understand and manage their costs.
  • Support commercial reporting through margin analysis, pricing reports, and variance analysis.
  • Work with budget holders to prepare annual overhead budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Build the budget for 2027, tracking spend against plan and highlighting key variances.
  • Act as a finance partner to non-finance colleagues across the business, helping them understand their financial performance.
  • Support improvements to overhead accounting processes and contribute to finance transformation projects where applicable.

Ideal candidate background

  • Experience with overheads, month-end close, and overhead reporting.
  • Experience with variance analysis for commercial purposes.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • A natural curiosity for data.
  • A manufacturing or previous contracting experience background.
  • Possibly studying towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA).
