Interim Management Accountant
Location: Bexley
Salary: £40,000-£45,000
Contract Type: Temporary|Strong chance to go permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week on site (flexible)
Hours: 08:00 - 16:00
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Interim Management Accountant to join a fast-paced manufacturing business on a temporary basis. This role will support the finance team in delivering accurate stock, costing and operational reporting while partnering closely with operational stakeholders across the business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in analysing material variances, maintaining robust inventory controls, and providing financial insight to support decision‑making. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working with large data sets and influencing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and analyse daily production and standard costing reports.
- Investigate and explain material variances between actual and expected costs.
- Review inventory movements and financial transactions within the accounting system.
- Reconcile financial and operational data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor stock levels and identify risks relating to obsolete or redundant inventory.
- Analyse quantity and value variances and communicate findings to operational stakeholders.
- Support effective stock control and inventory management processes.
- Attend regular meetings with Operational Leads to discuss performance, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Deliver meaningful financial reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement across processes, reporting and financial controls.
- Utilise Power BI and other reporting tools to analyse and present data.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant position.
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience investigating variances and reconciling large volumes of data.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable challenging and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Logical, methodical and process‑driven approach.
- Strong Excel and reporting capabilities.
Desirable
- Manufacturing sector background.
- Experience within a stock‑intensive environment.
- Knowledge of standard costing and inventory accounting.
- Experience using Power BI.
