An established UK manufacturing SME is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join the finance function on a 6-12 month contract. This is a hands-on role supporting the senior leadership team with high-quality management information, commercial insight, and financial control during a key period for the business. This role would suit a commercially focused finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational and production teams in a fast-paced SME environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, including rolling forecasts
- Deliver product costing, margin analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting
- Monitor inventory valuation, working capital, and cash flow forecasts
- Provide financial insight to support pricing decisions, contract reviews, and commercial negotiations
- Work closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to align financial and operational performance
- Support year-end processes, audit preparation, and statutory reporting
- Maintain strong financial controls and data integrity across finance and ERP systems
- Assist with CAPEX appraisals and business cases for improvement and investment projects
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and reporting
- Oversee or support monthly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements
About you
- Qualified, Part Qualified or QBE Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Strong background in management accounting, ideally within manufacturing or operational environments
- Proven experience delivering management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
- Solid understanding of cost control
