As Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for strengthening the organisation's overall financial position. You will oversee day-to-day finance operations while working closely with senior leaders to enhance performance, manage risk, and support major organisational change. This is a broad, influential role that extends well beyond traditional financial control. Key Accountabilities
- Deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting aligned with relevant accounting standards and regulatory expectations
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting cycle, providing clear analysis to inform strategic decisions
- Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure financial resilience and operational agility
- Oversee financial analysis to identify efficiencies, synergy opportunities, and areas for investment
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, ensuring adherence to tax and statutory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement
- Support major organisational initiatives, including restructuring, systems upgrades, and transformation programmes
Areas of Responsibility
- Financial Reporting: Preparation, review, and interpretation of monthly and annual financial statements
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Full ownership of the planning cycle, variance analysis, and forward-looking financial insight
- Cash Flow & Working Capital: Maintaining liquidity, optimising working capital, and strengthening cash management processes
- Financial Analysis & Strategy: Conducting ROI assessments, investment evaluations, and scenario modelling to guide decision-making
- Compliance & Controls: Managing internal controls, audits, and compliance with tax and regulatory obligations
- Team Leadership: Building capability within the finance team and fostering a strong performance culture
- Business Partnership: Collaborating with senior stakeholders to influence financial and operational strategy
About You
You are a commercially minded finance leader who thrives in evolving environments and enjoys building robust, reliable finance functions. You will bring:
- Extensive experience in senior finance roles, ideally at Financial Controller level
- Strong technical accounting expertise and a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- A track record of delivering high-quality financial analysis to support strategic decisions
- A collaborative leadership style with experience developing and motivating finance teams
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong systems capability, including experience with ERP platforms and advanced Excel skills
Qualifications & Technical Knowledge
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal control frameworks
- Knowledge of corporate finance, tax, and audit processes
- Experience supporting ERP implementations and wider business transformation initiatives
