Financial Reporting Accountant

Location: York (Hybrid Working)

Salary: Up to £55,000 + Excellent Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong and ambitious finance professional to join a collaborative team and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial, tax, and capital reporting.

This role offers a clear development path to becoming the Society\’s technical accounting and tax expert, making it ideal for someone looking to deepen their expertise in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly and periodic financial reporting
  • Prepare annual Financial Statements for various entities and liaising with external auditors
  • Produce quarterly VAT returns and support wider tax compliance and computations
  • Develop investment and treasury reporting, including fund performance insights and liquidity forecasting
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure efficient and accurate reporting
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure compliance with capitalisation policies
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and stay up-to-date of changes in accounting standards
  • Line manage and mentor the Trainee Financial Accountant

Skills & Experience Required:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
  • Experience in a large accounting firm or financial reporting environment
  • Strong background in statutory accounts preparation or audit of large entities
  • Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs)
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting
