Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy payroll bureau team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple client payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with current payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients.
  • Calculate salaries, statutory payments, deductions and pension contributions.
  • Manage payroll changes including starters, leavers, pay increases and employee amendments.
  • Submit payroll information to HMRC through RTI.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company procedures.
  • Handle client payroll queries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Process year-end payroll activities including P60s and P11Ds where required.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Support pension administration and auto-enrolment processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC rules and statutory payments.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as Sage Payroll, Bright Pay or similar.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workloads.
  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • CIPP qualification or working towards one.
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
