We are supporting a fast-growing fintech business specialising in lending with the appointment of an experienced Qualified Senior Financial Accountant on an initial 6-month contract. Accepted applicants must be a Qualified Accountant. You must come from a banking or lending background, with hands-on experience in statutory accounting and audit. Candidates must be immediately available or able to start within a maximum 2-week notice period.
Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of the statutory accounts and year-end audit process
- Acting as the key finance contact for external auditors and managing audit queries through to resolution
- Overseeing financial control, month-end close and balance sheet integrity
- Providing technical accounting input across lending and financing arrangements
- Reviewing and strengthening finance processes, controls and governance
- Supporting regulatory and financial reporting requirements within a regulated financial services environment
- Producing high-quality financial information for senior management and other external stakeholders
- Providing financial input into funding, capital and wider strategic initiatives
- Leading and developing the existing finance team
- Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and scalability of the finance function
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA preferred)
- Background within banking, lending or specialist financial services
- Strong statutory accounting and external audit experience
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge, ideally including financial instruments and lending structures
- Experience operating in a regulated environment
- Proven ability to take ownership of financial controls and reporting
- Comfortable working hands-on and independently in a fast-moving business
- Experience managing finance professionals
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and external advisers
