Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Housing Options Manager to work with one of our Local Authority clients.

  • What the Job Will Be Doing
  • Managing and supporting a team of Housing Options and Homelessness Officers.
  • Overseeing homelessness assessments and statutory decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Homelessness Code of Guidance and all relevant legislation.
  • Monitoring caseloads, KPIs, service standards and customer outcomes.
  • Providing technical guidance on complex homelessness cases, including eligibility, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.
  • Reviewing the quality and accuracy of Section 184 decision letters, Personalised Housing Plans and case records.
  • Managing escalated complaints, legal challenges and high-risk cases.
  • Developing and implementing effective homelessness prevention and relief strategies.
  • Working closely with internal departments, Registered Providers, support agencies and external partners.
  • Supporting the effective use and procurement of temporary accommodation and private rented sector options.
  • Producing performance reports and identifying opportunities for continuous service improvement.
  • Managing staff performance, supervision, training, development and absence management.
  • Ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded and escalated appropriately.
  • What You Will Need
  • Previous management experience within a Housing Options or Homelessness service.
  • Strong knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Experience managing complex homelessness assessments and statutory decision-making.
  • Excellent understanding of homelessness prevention, relief and temporary accommodation duties.
  • Experience managing performance, KPIs and operational service delivery.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing complaints, legal challenges and complex casework.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, equality legislation and data protection.
  • Previous experience working within a Local Authority Housing Service
