We are looking for a Junior Technologist to join our Menswear team on a 12-month FTC to deliver high-quality, trend-led Menswear clothing collections, with a strong focus on excellent fit, execution and technical standards. This role holds global responsibility for a defined category and supports the delivery of industry-leading, modern and stylish Menswear across the full-size range.
Working as part of the Menswear Clothing Technology team, you will ensure exceptional fit and grading standards, maintaining accuracy and consistency from concept through to production. You will be responsible for the integrity of all PLM data at tech pack stage, including materials, components, BOMs, blocks, measurements, colour coding, innovation and Plan A requirements. You will manage a defined product range or department, providing support across the wider Technology team where required, and may act on behalf of the Technologist to represent M&S externally and internally.
You will ensure the block library remains up to date, seasonal patterns are developed in line with the critical path, and all technical deadlines are met while continually seeking opportunities to optimise lead times without compromising quality. A key part of the role is delivering innovation that drives commercial, customer-focused benefits, working collaboratively with Design, Product and Innovation teams in line with the overall Menswear strategy.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Participate in benchmarking and wear testing exercises in your BU, be able to articulate where the M&S product sits in the market compared to our competitors.
- Champion product quality. Monitor quality issues and participate in root cause analysis feeding learnings back into technical standards.
- Maintain technical standards across the business area putting customer requirements at the centre of policy.
- Work with sourcing offices to maintain up to date knowledge of technical capability of M&S’ supply base within the business area, regularly sharing applying knowledge and expertise of fabric, construction and technical innovation to develop products that better meet the needs of the customer.
- Champion the integrity of product data on M&S systems across the business area.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Menswear specialist with an avid interest in the UK and Global Menswear markets.
- Expert in the field of technology including manufacturing, fit, construction and/or fabric/raw materials.
- Adept in multiple product areas including Knits, Wovens, Casualwear, Tailoring, Sportswear.
- Ability to interpret Departmental Strategy and provide insights based on technical knowledge.
- To be able to analyse data (CIU, Bizarre Voice, QPI’s, PLM) and drive insights to support strategic thinking.
