We now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Engineering Shift Manager to join our dynamic Engineering team at the Castle Donington Distribution Centre.

In this pivotal role, you will lead a skilled and diverse team of Maintenance Engineers and Technicians, overseeing planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities that support the smooth operation of our site’s infrastructure.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Manage the deployment and activity of Inspection Technicians and Engineers to carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and continuous improvement activities as the need arises to optimise operational performance.
  • Mentor and coach your team to support their ongoing development through the Engineering Skills Matrix and in-house Engineering NVQ programme and performance manage if required.
  • Drive standards and behaviours, creating an inclusive environment characterised by trust and mutual respect, managing absence and disciplinary issues in line with M&S policies and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure the working environment is safe for all on site and act as a role model for all things Health & Safety, seeking out and resolving potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Act as a deputy for the Engineering Shift Manager when required, assuming full responsibility for the shift engineering team collaborating closely with the Flow and Operation Teams to deliver a magical experience for our customers.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Established Qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer in an appropriate Engineering field (minimum level 3 or equivalent) and be familiar with working in an automated Warehouse environment or similar.
  • Ability to analyse engineering issues/problems, identify solutions and prioritise and plan predictive and reactive maintenance.
  • An inspiring leader with great relationship management skills who has the ability to adapt their style to your audience.
  • Ability to coach and mentor your team to achieve the highest standards of performance and behaviour while creating an environment that enables them to deliver their best.
  • With a head for heights.
