As one of the Business Domain Architects within Customer, you will be joining a team that covers a broad area, from Loyalty, CRM, Bank, personalisation, online selling platforms, fulfilment & returns, contact centres and the operation of M&S's large store estate. You will be one of two Domain Architects in the Online Domain accountable for the target architecture for your domain. The focus will be fulfilment, reverse logistics and post purchase support. You will ensure enterprise and system capabilities are aligned with the needs of your product Domain and enact business-outcome driven enterprise architecture. You will oversee all architecture solutions within the Domain, working closely with solution architects and Principal Engineers. You will build out and own the target strategy for your Domain collaborating with peers and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Own and set the Architecture vision and roadmap for a Business Domain, defining 1-3 year target states, transition plans, standards and costed roadmaps aligned to enterprise strategy and business outcomes.
  • Lead domain-wide architecture delivery and governance, ensuring solutions align with platform architecture, group standards, security, regulatory requirements and total cost of ownership ambitions.
  • Act as senior technical advisor and decision-maker, shaping technology and vendor strategy, driving simplification, and leading the shift to a composable, data-centric, event-driven landscape.
  • Inspire, lead and grow high performing teams, mentoring architects and engineers, fostering autonomy, and building a strong, collaborative architecture community.
  • Partner across business, product, engineering and vendors to translate strategy into executable plans, influence outcomes, and deliver measurable improvements in cost, capability and competitive advantage.
  • Extensive experience in solution and enterprise architecture, delivering large scale digital transformation within Agile environments and at pace.
  • Deep expertise in modern architectural patterns, integration, platforms and emerging technologies, with the ability to assess, select and align them to strategic business outcomes.
  • Proven thought leader and trusted technical partner to senior business and domain leaders, balancing technology, people and process change.
  • Strong enterprise mindset with experience in governance, risk, compliance, TCO optimisation and commercial decision making at scale.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement, leadership and communication skills, with a track record of leading cross functional teams, driving change, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
