The Governing Body of Markland Hill Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly skilled Teaching Assistant (Level 2) with SEND responsibility to join our Markland Hill team fixed term for a year. The successful candidate will provide high quality support for pupils with special educational needs on a small group and one to one basis. We are a warm and friendly school with a positive learning environment. There is a strong and committed partnership between Staff, Governors and Parents who work together to provide safe, caring surroundings, where children are valued and nurtured on their individual journey of success.

Our broad and balanced curriculum is enhanced by many extended opportunities which are provided by teachers, learning support staff and independent specialists. We are looking to appoint someone who is able to:

  • Provide support for a range of teaching and learning activities
  • Prepare suitable resources to aid the child’s learning
  • Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils in specific areas of the curriculum and during transitions
  • Understand the skills needed to be an effective team member
  • Be confident in delivering speech and language programmes
  • Have a strong understanding of a range of needs and how to meet/manage these in the classroom/wider school environment
  • Have a good understanding of an EHCP and is able to support with completing the paperwork for an annual review
  • Work effectively with other professionals
