Our platform makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one's ever done this before. But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead.
The Role
The Credit Risk Analyst is focused on counterparty credit risk analysis within capital markets. Counterparties include banks, asset managers, hedge funds, broker-dealers, and other financial institutions. The role relates directly to the firm's Open Trading platform, whereby MarketAxess acts as counterparty to both the buyer and seller of bonds in a matched principal capacity, thereby taking on both financial and reputational risk. You will be part of a broader Global Team and will support and work directly with the Senior Credit Risk Associate in EMEA, and Head of Credit & Market Risk for the EMEA & APAC regions.
How You'll Help Take Us There
- Provide coverage of the Open Trading Desk by timely response to limit breach alerts and queries; ad-hoc reporting; and general support of more senior members of the team.
- The Credit Risk Analyst also has responsibility for the credit risk assessment of existing and potential counterparties transacting on the Company's bespoke Open Trading platform.
- Assign and manage credit limits while maintaining sound judgment and controls in order to mitigate counterparty credit settlement risk, market risk and reputational risk.
- Maintain close engagement with the OT Desk, including timely response to limit breaches and processing of temporary credit limit increases.
- Regularly monitor and report on credit exposures and KRIs, taking minutes at various meetings, including Credit Committees.
- Ensure that Credit systems are up to date with correct and relevant information.
- Support the Senior Credit Risk Associate in EMEA and the Head of Credit & Market Risk for the EMEA & APAC regions in the overall management of the Credit & Market risk function.
- Act as a Sales Liaison for collating all relevant information needed for the onboarding of new EMEA OT accounts.
- Write Credit Memos for the Credit Committee to assess potential new counterparties.
- Perform ongoing credit analyses of existing counterparties to renew credit lines.
- Work with a variety of teams within the business, including Sales; Settlements; Legal & Compliance and Customer Services in order to ensure the smooth running of the Credit Process.
What We're Looking for
- Bachelor's degree required (2.1 or above), finance or economics concentration preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in credit risk analysis for financial institutions.
- Experience with MS Office Suite, notably Excel and Word.
- Results-driven and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to tackle business problems with creative solutions.
- Analytical, quantitative, verbal and written communication skills.
