We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time / full‑time enthusiastic, reliable, and dynamic individual to join our team of dispensers and counter assistants. The role will include dispensing, ordering and stock control of drugs, working across our two sites at Husbands Bosworth Medical Centre and Market Harborough Medical Centre.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide efficient and effective dispensing service to the Medical Centre village patients, private patients and temporary residents.
  • To take responsibility for your own work and ensure completion of all tasks in good time.
  • To assist other colleagues as required.

Job responsibilities:

Key Dispensing Responsibilities:

  • To dispense medication as directed by the GPs and in line with the Practice Protocol.
  • To maintain stock control.
  • To order drugs as required.
  • To ensure the process of dispensing is timely and accurate.
  • Maintain the on‑call drug box stock supplies daily.
  • Ensure proper procedure for the administration of controlled drugs.

Key Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for checking deliveries and making sure they match the order.
  • Responsible for the collection and preparation of prescriptions for submission to PPA on a monthly basis.
  • To collect monies from private patients and paying dispensary patients.
  • Liaise with patients re exempt status and ensure all FP10s are processed correctly.
  • To deal with telephone enquiries and face‑to‑face in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Liaise closely with dispensing GP Lead.

Key Team Responsibilities:

  • To be flexible and cover holiday and sickness of colleagues.
  • To support and assist team members.
  • Be willing to train staff as necessary.
  • Ensure good lines of communication between colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timetables.
  • Liaise with Practice Manager who oversees Dispensary.
  • Understand and observe practice protocols and patient confidentiality.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Take part in the annual performance appraisal system and undertake such training as is deemed necessary by the practice.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the GPs and Managers which are reasonable and in line with the principles of this job description.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Friendly, polite and calm disposition.
  • Understanding, acceptance and adherence to the strict rules of confidentiality.
  • Strong personal organisation, self‑reliance and motivation but able to work for the team in a flexible manner.
  • Good understanding of primary care issues.
