Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a CNC Operator / Programmer on behalf of our client, a well-established aluminium fabrication company specialising in windows, doors, and curtain walling systems. This is a permanent position based on a day shift, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional to join a growing manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machining centres to produce aluminium components accurately and efficiently, in line with technical drawings, fabrication manuals, and system supplier specifications.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- CNC Programming & Operation
- Program, set, and operate CNC machining centres for aluminium profiles using machine-specific software, primarily FOM Industrie.
- Create, modify, and optimise CNC programs to meet production requirements.
- Set up machines including tooling, calibration, and fixture selection.
- Carry out machining operations including milling, drilling, routing, tapping, slotting, and notching.
- Interpret production drawings, machining lists, and matrices from system suppliers such as Alunet and Reynaers.
- Ensure machining paths comply with fabrication manuals and project specifications.
- Perform first-off inspections and dimensional checks using gauges and verniers.
- Ensure all components meet internal quality standards and fabrication tolerances.
- Identify and rectify machining or programming errors.
- Maintain compliance with company and industry quality procedures.
- Monitor machine performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with tooling selection, maintenance, and replacement scheduling.
- Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine setups, production outputs, and machine logs.
- Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication, and planned maintenance tasks.
- Report equipment faults promptly and liaise with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times in line with company policies.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience programming and operating CNC machining/routing centres, ideally within aluminium fabrication or a similar precision engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of aluminium extrusion machining and multi-axis CNC operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication schedules.
- Experience using CNC machine software (FOM Industrie preferred).
- Familiarity with window, door, and curtain walling fabrication systems is advantageous.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality.
- Confident using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude.
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00am β 2:00pm
