Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Regional Sales Manager on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales professional to take ownership of a defined region, driving business growth while managing key customer relationships and leading a successful sales team. This role is ideal for someone who is commercially focused, enjoys developing people, and thrives in a field-based environment with regular travel.

Main Purpose of the Role

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for defining and implementing the commercial development strategy across your region. You will lead and motivate your team, develop key customer relationships, and ensure sales objectives are achieved through effective planning, coaching and performance management. Working closely with senior management, you will identify opportunities for business growth while ensuring commercial performance, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency remain a priority.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional sales strategies that support overall business objectives.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the regional sales team through coaching, performance reviews and ongoing support.
  • Conduct one-to-one meetings, identify training needs and support employee development.
  • Manage recruitment and succession planning within the team where required.
  • Develop commercial policies, pricing strategies and product offerings to maximise profitability.
  • Produce sales forecasts and monitor margins against agreed commercial targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to support business growth.
  • Manage departmental budgets and provide regular sales and performance reports.
  • Coordinate activities with the wider sales department and local service managers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs including sales, margins, EBITDA, customer satisfaction and team performance.
  • Travel extensively across the North of England (approximately 40–70%) to support customers and the regional sales team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Allocate resources effectively to maximise regional performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the sales function.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and adapt regional processes where required.
  • Establish and review sales performance indicators and reporting methods.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve commercial objectives.
  • Promote a positive team culture and encourage collaboration across departments.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years' B2B sales experience, ideally within the electrical, industrial, tools or PPE sectors.
  • Previous experience managing or leading a sales team.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to develop and execute sales strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of technical or industrial products would be advantageous.
  • A proven ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • A flexible approach to work with the willingness to travel extensively and stay away overnight when required.
  • A full UK driving licence.
