Job Title: Manufacturing Design Engineer – Retail Displays Location: Witham, Essex Employment Type: Full-Time Market 36 Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client based in Witham for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative business specialising in the design and manufacture of high-quality retail display solutions for leading brands across a variety of industries. Role Overview: The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming conceptual retail display designs into detailed, production-ready engineering documentation. You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered with precision, creativity, and cost-efficiency—from prototype to final production. Key Responsibilities: * Translate industrial design concepts into detailed engineering drawings for fabrication * Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Inventor * Select suitable materials and processes (wood, metal, acrylic, plastic, print) considering cost, durability, and visual appeal * Collaborate with production teams and external suppliers to ensure feasibility and accuracy * Conduct tolerance analysis, create Bills of Materials (BOMs), and evaluate design for manufacture (DFM) * Provide input on tooling and assembly methods * Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design development * Ensure adherence to project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards * Comply with health and safety regulations and client-specific requirements * Occasional travel for site visits, installations, or supplier meetings may be required Required Qualifications and Experience: * Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Product Design, or a related field * Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail display design or custom fabrication * Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor * Strong understanding of materials and processes such as woodworking, metalwork, acrylic forming, and printing * Knowledge of DFM principles and production constraints * Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills * Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally * Capable of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines Desirable Skills: * Experience with POP/POS display manufacturing * Hands-on fabrication or shop-floor experience * Awareness of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices * Familiarity with ERP or PDM systems What’s on Offer: * Competitive salary and benefits * Career development opportunities * Engaging and collaborative work environment * The chance to contribute to high-profile retail display projects If you\’re a motivated and technically skilled design engineer looking to be part of a creative and fast-paced industry, we’d love to hear from you.
