Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Workshop Machinist on behalf of our client based in Braintree on a Permanent basis.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic rams and components
  • Strip down, inspect, refurbish and reassemble hydraulic cylinders
  • Test completed rams to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation
  • Operate manual lathes (e.g. Colchester)
  • Liaise with customers regarding job requirements and provide quotes
  • Manage stock levels and order parts as required, ensuring cost efficiency
  • Organise and manage outsourced work
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and organised work environment
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
  • Use tools and equipment correctly and report faults or hazards
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers regarding job progress

Additional Responsibilities

  • Experience repairing and refurbishing hydraulic rams/cylinders preferred
  • Experience operating manual lathes
  • Experience with stock control and ordering parts is advantageous

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs
  • Competence in stripping, inspecting and reassembling components
  • Ability to test components for safe and reliable operation
  • Good understanding of workshop practices (hydraulics knowledge preferred)
  • Aware of Health & Safety requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Working Pattern & Benefits

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:30pm
  • Salary: £34,000 – £39,000 (dependent on experience)
