Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant on behalf of our client based in Braintree.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist manufacturing business producing high-quality rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

Working within a small and friendly team, the successful candidate will receive full training across all aspects of the manufacturing process, learning to produce a wide range of specialist contact lenses using precision machinery and equipment.

  • Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the manufacture of specialist contact lenses from start to finish.
  • Operate CNC lathes, polishing equipment and other specialist manufacturing machinery.
  • Carry out polishing, blocking and laser engraving processes.
  • Clean, inspect and prepare lenses for final packaging.
  • Operate automated lens packaging machinery.
  • Perform technical measurements and accurately record production data.
  • Ensure products meet strict quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain accurate production records and manufacturing documentation.
  • Assist with stock control and monitor raw material levels.
  • Support the calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment (full training provided).

About You

The successful candidate will

  • Have a good level of numeracy and literacy, with the ability to carry out accurate measurements, calculations and record-keeping.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in engineering, manufacturing or precision production.
  • Be eager to learn new skills and develop within a specialist manufacturing environment.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Have basic engineering or mechanical knowledge (desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided).
  • Be looking for a long-term career where they can grow and develop within the business.
