Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Engineering Estimator / Sheet Metal Fabricator on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering and sheet metal manufacturing business. This role would suit someone with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication or general engineering, who is confident working with drawings, pricing work, and supporting production activity. The position offers a varied mix of estimating, CAD, purchasing support, and technical liaison with both customers and subcontractors.

To support the commercial and production functions by producing accurate quotations, analysing data, and assisting with engineering and manufacturing requirements across a range of sheet metal components and assemblies. For the right candidate, progression is a possibility for the future as well as an immediate start depending on the candidate's notice period.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create quotations using customer drawings and CAD data, ranging from single sheet metal components through to multi-level assemblies.
  • Re-cost and update pricing for ongoing legacy production work as required.
  • Input and analyse data within the production management and planning system (MRP).
  • Assist with purchasing of raw materials, fasteners, fittings, and general engineering consumables.
  • Communicate requirements to subcontractors regarding finishing and machining processes.
  • Liaise with customers on Design for Manufacture (DFM) issues and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Produce and interpret general 2D CAD drawings (3D CAD not essential).
Experience, Skills & Background:
  • Background in general engineering or fine-limit sheet metal fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing conventions and document control.
  • Experience or working knowledge of CNC production processes and methods.
  • Knowledge of finishing processes including powder coating, painting, and electroplating.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues, design considerations, and problem-solving matters with customers.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

Salary: £35,000 - £38,000

Benefits: Company Pension, On-Site Parking, Free Tea & Coffee, Ability to work a 4 day week by condensing 40 hours into the 4 days (for example 10 hours worked per day) – this can be completed Mon-Thur to have the Friday off, or Tue-Fri to have the Monday off.
