Markerstudy Insurance Group is looking for an Accountant to join our Group Finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys month-end, reconciliations, reporting and process improvement within a large, complex finance environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting financial month-end and reporting processes across the Markerstudy group of companies, helping ensure accuracy, strong controls and timely delivery.

The role involves supporting the Financial Controller and wider Controllership team with the preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, audit support and continuous improvement activity. You’ll be joining a collaborative finance team where accuracy, ownership and strong internal relationships are key. The role will suit someone who is methodical, confident working with data, and comfortable balancing deadlines in a changing environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting monthly close activities, including preparation and posting of journals
  • Creating, recording and approving journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Completing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting detailed balance sheet reviews across allocated areas
  • Assisting with internal and external audit requirements, including backing schedules and statutory reporting support
  • Partnering with FP&A to provide clear analysis that supports decision-making
  • Supporting wider Controllership activity and ad hoc finance projects
  • Helping improve month-end processes, controls and reporting efficiency
  • Supporting ongoing systems and process integration across the Group
  • Working closely with finance colleagues to share learning, best practice and continuous improvement ideas

About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, accurate and confident managing competing priorities. You’ll bring:

  • Experience in management accounts, month-end reporting or a similar finance role
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience
  • Good Excel skills
  • A methodical approach and strong attention to detail
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to challenge existing processes
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and solving problems creatively

Qualifications And Experience

Ideally, you’ll be:

  • Qualified, part-qualified or working towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or AAT qualified
  • Experienced in Excel.
  • Experienced within financial services and/or a large, complex organisation
