We are looking for a Senior IT Assurance & Resilience Analyst to be responsible for supporting and helping strengthen Markelâs IT governance, operational resilience, and risk posture by supporting IT service owners and technology teams in demonstrating compliance, managing vulnerabilities, executing lifecycle improvement, and delivering disaster recovery preparedness.
The IT Assurance & Resilience Team safeguards Markel Internationalâs technology environment by ensuring it is secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with both regulatory requirements and internal governance standards. Our mission is to provide confidence that IT services can withstand disruptions, recover swiftly, and maintain operational integrity. We partner with IT Service Owners so they can maintain accountability and oversight of their services. Through clear guidance, expert knowledge, external support, and intuitive dashboards, we deliver visibility into service health, resilience, and risk exposure. This empowers service owners, IT leadership, and business stakeholders to make informed decisionsâwhether to prioritise remediation or accept risk with full transparency.
What youâll be doing:
- Governance & Compliance: Collaborate with global risk and security teams to help service owners achieve and demonstrate adherence to IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance during technology changes, including new deployments, upgrades, and decommissioning, by embedding governance and risk checks into change processes.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Partner with Core IT, Security, and Risk teams to identify existing and emerging risks, determine which IT services are affected, and provide actionable mitigation options. Support service owners in addressing, testing, and reducing vulnerabilities and risk.
- Lifecycle Management: Enable transparency across the technology lifecycle, including upgrades and end-of-life decommissioning. Promote proactive planning for lifecycle events, minimising disruption or reactive âfire drillsâ.
- Operational Resilience: Maintain stakeholder approved IT Critical Application DR exercise schedule and facilitate exercise reporting. Coordinate and oversee disaster recovery exercises, validating outcomes and driving improvements. Develop, enhance, and test disaster recovery and IT business continuity plans with IT service owners.
- Assurance Reporting: Provide transparency on IT risk posture and resilience readiness through reporting and the development and maintenance of tailored IT risk-based dashboards. Maintain and update risk registers and resilience dashboards to ensure accurate visibility of IT risk posture.
Key Skills:
- Experience in IT Operations, IT Support or Service Management.
- Experience aligned with IT Governance, Risk, Security or Compliance.
- Strong, credible technical presence with the ability to influence change and adoption.
- Experience supporting information technology teams; operational risk management experience preferred.
- Experience with operational processes, monitoring, service ownership, lifecycle oversight.
- Experience supporting control testing, audit engagement, risk assessment, policy adherence, framework alignment.
- Working knowledge of DR/BCP exercises across multi-team environments.
- Experience using reporting and dashboarding tools (Power BI, LogicMonitor, Auditboard, ServiceNow reporting advantageous).
- Awareness of COBIT, ITIL, NIST, Secure Control Frameworks.
- Experience in vendor management risk analysis and governance.
- Comfortable working in a matrixed environment and handling various challenging priorities.
- Experience of working in regulated environments with strong governance and audit requirements.

- A great starting salary plus annual bonus & strong benefits package.
- Up to 16% company pension scheme, Private medical and dental cover, Menopause plan, emergency care benefit (children/Pets/dependants), Income protection, Life assurance, electric car scheme, travel insurance.
