As Reserving Actuary, you will shape the international reserving strategy and contribute to robust financial reporting and risk management. You will influence global actuarial practice and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate reserves. The role combines technical actuarial leadership with process governance and mentoring of the wider team. Responsibilities
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the international reserving function and ensure high-quality reserving and financial reporting output
- Coordinate activities across the wider department to meet deadlines and standards
- Develop technical approaches for international reserving and collaborate with global teams to introduce new tools and methods
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders in reserving, finance, ExCo, auditors and regulators
- Lead reserving team members and provide coaching and training to the actuarial team
- Support broader Markel International Actuarial team and participate in global actuarial projects
Key requirements
- Reserving expertise within the International actuarial team
- Ability to respond to complex reserving issues and provide bespoke tooling
- Capability to manage and engage the wider actuarial team to deliver timely, high-quality outputs
- Identify and implement improvements to reserving processes and governance
- Ability to influence a team, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
- Recognised guide in reserving methods and techniques and keep up to date with market trends
- Willingness to be present in London office at least two days a week
