Come and progress your career working with our London office here at Markel as an Assistant Underwriter - Construction. We are seeking a highly motivated insurance professional to join our Construction team within Marine & Energy in London. The Construction team writes a diverse portfolio on a worldwide basis, with particular focus on North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Products are tailored to meet the requirements of clients ranging from smaller local companies to global operations. The underwriting team is supported by an experienced, in-house claims team. This role sits within the Construction Division, with a focus on supporting and developing its role within Wholesale.

What you’ll be doing:
- Receive new business and renewal submissions from brokers and underwriters and process them through Markel’s 1WF framework
- Support underwriters in the renewal of policies, including claims analysis, pre-bind CAT reporting and pricing analysis
- Develop a strong understanding of the Construction insurance product
- Run Power BI reports and provide underwriting data and insights as required
- Build strong relationships across Marine & Energy and wider teams including UST, Xceedance, Compliance, CAT, IPA and Claims
- Champion continuous improvement across end-to-end processes and data quality
- Attend broker and client meetings as required
- Apply effective risk management practices including aggregation monitoring and guideline controls
