The opportunity:

It’s an exciting time to join Markel as our business grows, and we are looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to join our UK Marketing team, (3 days in the office / 2 days working from home). The role will be based ideally at our Manchester office but we will consider our Leeds office as well.

The Marketing department within UK National Markets is a fun, high performing team of motivated and talented marketers covering the full marketing mix delivering innovative and bespoke insurance solutions to UK businesses, from charities and care organisations to providers of IT services and media companies.

In line with the business’s ambitious growth targets and its NMUK strategy the Marketing team restructured at the beginning of 2022, aligning itself to the key distribution channels within its UK business. The investment in the team is testament to the value the business places in the Marketing function and the key role it will play in achieving its growth objectives. This has created a number of exciting opportunities within the team, including a new role within the Marketing Services team, supporting the delivery of the NMUK Marketing plan. This role represents a fabulous opportunity to forge an exciting career in Marketing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the Digital Development Manager in managing the digital team and providing a best-in-class multi-channel digital strategy.
  • Be a key member of the Digital and Marketing Services team, working closely with the Digital Development Manager, Content, Design and Event leads to deliver multiple campaigns.
  • Ensure the channel deliverables reflect the key marketing success metrics and are implemented in a timely manner within budgetary controls.
  • Manage effective strategy and execution of social campaigning from: brief, building and reporting and optimisation across multiple channels.
  • CRM data management and enrichment.
  • Own reporting and tracking of all Digital Marketing activity and measurement of value and optimisations.
  • Strive to deliver standard processes and brand governance across all activities.
  • Ensure QC of brand governance.

Our must haves:

  • 4+ years digital marketing campaign experience, either agency or in-house across website, email, SEO, social channels (LinkedIn inc Campaign Manager & YouTube).
  • Experience of using HubSpot is essential!
  • Manage the CRM system (HubSpot & D365) day-to-day.
  • Create segmented lists & workflows to support campaigns.
  • Maintain clean, enriched & properly tagged CRM data.
  • Plan & activate paid & Organic campaigns – with a proficiency in LinkedIn.
  • Monitor spend & performance against KPIs.
  • Drive activation of the Keyword strategy for best practice visibility and indexing.
  • Conduct keyword research & implement on-page improvements.
  • Track rankings & traffic performance.
  • Ensure website & landing pages are optimised for conversion.
  • Own and contribute to digital performance reporting across all channels.
  • Deliver monthly reports & ad-hoc insights.
  • Make recommendations based on data & trends.

Other Responsibilities / experiences:

  • Experience in account and vendor management, including client and partner facing situations and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in workstack / ticket system management for workload/ project management.
  • Experience with eMarketing design, build, and reporting. Providing a best practice understanding of automations and nurture sequences.
  • Website CMS management and page maintenance is a bonus.
  • Experience with PPC and SEO.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and work within a hybrid team framework.
  • Passion for building relationships and getting to know people and their needs, both digitally and in person.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines and work on a number of projects at once.
  • Desire to study for a Marketing qualification company supported and funded.
