The opportunity:
Joining a department that is friendly and fast paced, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Guidewire platform.
You will use agile and lean methods and be a creative problem-solver as part of a cross-functional team, caring deeply about writing good code and constantly strive to enhance the user experience, possessing a strong desire to keep up to date with the latest development techniques.
You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Guidewire platform to the requirements of the award-winning International Claims department, whist maintaining compliance with Markel and regulatory
standards.
What you’ll be doing:
- Customizing Claim Centre: Writing code to add features that aren\'t available through configuration
- Integrating with other systems: Developing integrations between Claims Centre and other systems, such as PAS, document management systems, and third-party data providers
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fixing technical issues
- Monitoring the Claims Centre platform, including but not limited to,
- Identifying requirements for specific alerts
- Creating alerts for events and thresholds
- Accessing Datadog logs and dashboards for error analysis
- Monitoring DXC downtime and communicating to users
- You will play a pivotal role in updating the platform, including but not limited to
- Performing a 3-way merge of the updated code
- Validating the updated version
- Adopting new features added in the update
- Gathering requirements: Working with clients to understand their business needs
- Designing solutions: Translating business needs into functional specifications and design documents
- Collaborates within their Scrum team colleagues (and wider Software Engineering team) to provide Markel with a world class Software Engineering capability
- Produces high quality IT solutions and services against agreed designs and standards
- Ensure that the appropriate technology and level of complexity is used when delivering solutions
- Using tools to deliver & maintain a high standard of code quality and appropriate documentation
- Takes ownership to investigate and resolve service functionality related issues when necessary
- Guidewire development experience (ClaimCenter preferred)
- Experience of coding RESTful APIs
- Experience of coding in multiple programming languages such as C#, Java, Python etc
- Experience with relational databases and SQL – MS SQL Server & Transact SQL proficiency preferred
- Experience supporting business database applications
- Familiarity with design thinking and customer centric design
- DevOps, CI/CD, test automation and cloud deployment
- Experience gained in insurance claims or insurance claims related business, or other regulated entity
