Looking for a role where you will have a meaningful contribution to Markel’s second line compliance? In your role as Compliance Officer – Advisory business partner, you will make a meaningful contribution to Markel’s second line compliance oversight. The role is part of the International Division Compliance function, which is overseen by the Chief Compliance Officer. The team is well-established with operations in multiple countries, managing all of Markel’s insurance activities outside the U.S. This role will report to the Director of Compliance for UK, London Markets and Canada Divisions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing key support, compliance guidance and advice to the business trading divisions of Markel’s international insurance operations.
- Overseeing and advising the first line on implementation of regulatory change, remediation actions and other regulatory compliance matters.
- Supporting business goals such as growth projects, new products or distribution, change delivery.
- Supporting and guiding key first line functions on regulatory and Lloyd’s requirements.
- Preparing reports for senior management, Boards and Committees.
- Supporting the compliance advisory team and involved with compliance risk assessments across the divisions.
- Keeping up to date with regulation through trade body events or other methods.
Our must-haves:
- Relevant compliance experience in the insurance industry with strong SME knowledge of FCA and PRA rules.
- Lloyd’s and London market experience is essential.
- Licencing knowledge and understanding overseas regulatory capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company with a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong writing skills and a good grasp of technology to support and automate processes.
- Prepared to complete insurance compliance qualifications relevant to the role.
- Previous exposure to senior stakeholder management would be beneficial.
