The Underwriting Assistant provides administrative and technical support to the underwriting team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely service delivery. Join us and play your part in something special!

The opportunity: We are a small team who look after the direct P&I business of Markel International. Working with the Underwriters you will support the team. You will be trained with our systems but also about the wider marine liability and P&I market and gain an understanding of the world shipping industry.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Invoicing + Production of invoicing for all MECO Brands as required
  • Renewal Statistics + Claims Breakdowns + Checking debt
  • Certification / Endorsements + Assistance with the production of certification if required
    • Certificates
    • Endorsements
    • Blue Cards
  • IT testing as required

Our must-haves:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook (and Access preferably).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
