We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented IT Project Manager to join our IT Service Operations team. Join us and play your part in something special!

The opportunity:

The Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering infrastructure projects across Markel's International Technology estate, with primary focus on APAC, Europe, Canada, and UK regions. The individual will plan, implement, and close infrastructure programme initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while meeting both short-term and long-term business needs.

The successful candidate will provide project leadership, stakeholder management, and governance oversight to drive successful delivery of infrastructure projects such as infrastructure modernisation, network upgrades, and technology refresh and facilities IT enablement programs across international locations. The Infrastructure Project Manager will play a key role as part of the Technology Service Operations team, working closely with operations teams and collaborating with global colleagues to ensure seamless transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations. This role focuses on project delivery and implementation for International operations. The Infrastructure Project Manager will work closely with Infrastructure Operations teams to ensure smooth transitions from project to operations, while collaborating with global colleagues where projects have interdependencies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Defines project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with international stakeholders and the Service Operations Director.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans including timelines, resource allocation, budget estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Establishes project governance frameworks including steering committees, RAID logs, and reporting cadences appropriate for multiple time zone operations.
  • Conducts feasibility studies and case development for proposed infrastructure initiatives across international regions.
  • Identifies and secures required resources, including internal teams, regional suppliers, and budget allocation.
  • Ensures alignment with global Markel technology standards while accommodating regional requirements.

Our must-haves:

  • Experience as an Infrastructure Project Manager or Senior IT Project Manager, with consistent track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects in multi-region/multi-time-zone environments.
  • Formal project management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of delivering infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards across international locations.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure components including operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, network devices and cloud platforms.
  • Experience leading infrastructure transformation projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in budget management and financial reporting for projects across multiple currencies and regions.
  • Experience leading vendor relationships and contract delivery within project contexts across international markets.
  • Strong experience with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
