The opportunity: The Senior People Analyst transforms workforce data into strategic insight that drives better talent and business decisions. Partnering with HR and business leaders across Markel, you'll uncover workforce trends, find opportunities and risks, and help develop future‑focused people strategies through data, analytics, and storytelling.
- Strategic Partnership & Influence
- Partner with HR and business leaders to identify workforce priorities and define the analytics needed to inform decisions.
- Translate complex data into clear insights that develop priorities and decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor – comfortable challenging thinking with evidence and helping leaders move from opinion to insight‑led action.
- Insight Generation & Decision Enablement
- Deliver analytics, dashboards, and reporting that support workforce priorities including retention, talent planning, and organisational effectiveness.
- Connect data points to highlight workforce risks, opportunities, and practical actions.
- Build predictive and forward‑looking views (e.g. attrition risk, workforce demand, skills gaps, hiring effectiveness, talent trends) that shift the conversation from reporting the past to shaping the future.
- Support statutory, regulatory and compensation reporting requirements across International markets with accuracy and confidence.
- Innovation, AI & Change
- Champion the use of AI, automation and Microsoft Copilot to reimagine how HR data and reporting are consumed across the business.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and scale – replacing manual reporting with self‑serve, always‑on insight.
- Bring a change mindset: prototype quickly, pilot boldly, and help embed new ways of working across HR and the wider business.
- Stay close to external best practice and market trends, importing ideas that raise the bar for our people analytics capability.
- Consultative Problem Solving
- Partner with stakeholders to diagnose workforce issues, challenge assumptions, and refine solutions through data.
- Work with HRIS, IT, and analytics partners to ensure data quality and effective solutions.
- Scalable Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Build and improve scalable reporting and dashboards that increase insight into workforce trends.
- Contribute to the people analytics standards — governance, definitions, data ethics and storytelling frameworks — so insight is trusted and consistent.
- Coach and upskill HRBPs and managers to use data confidently in their day‑to‑day decisions.
Our must-haves:
- Significant experience in People Analytics, Workforce Planning or a related field.
- Experience producing reporting, dashboards and actionable workforce analysis.
- Experience influencing business and HR leaders with data.
- Technical Skills Power BI or similar analytics tools.
- Strong knowledge of HRIS platforms such as Workday.
- Data storytelling and visualisation expertise.
You’ll stand out if you have:
