Reinsurance and Business Accounting sit within our global finance team. We use a structured and scalable way of working to keep aged debt low and get the most out of our ceded reinsurance assets. This ensures full value from our reinsurance spend, supports balance‑sheet stability, drives cash flow and contributes positively to the P&L. We prioritize data quality and continuously improve processes with digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Create reinsurance risks in core systems and accurately record policy terms.
  • Be a team player and provide support to the reinsurance team in all aspects.
  • Take accountability and ownership on tasks, exploring solutions to optimise processes.
  • Ensure reinsurance premium and related expenses are correctly booked, advised, and settled under contractual terms.
  • Calculate and issue reinsurance recoveries for paid claims and outstanding reserves; respond to queries within five working days.
  • Accurately record all reinsurance recoveries in core systems.
  • Work with internal and external parties to expedite receipt of reinsurance funds.
  • Support all internal and external reporting requirements, meeting deadlines.
  • Escalate material issues in a timely manner and monitor through to resolution.
  • Understand the reinsurance process and internal controls, including Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX), and ensure compliance.
  • Analyze reinsurance data across systems to identify inconsistencies, exceptions and improvement opportunities, supporting data quality initiatives.
  • Assist with automation and process improvement initiatives, including data extraction, transformation and validation across systems.

Qualifications / Must-Haves

  • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance is beneficial.
  • Positive, curious attitude with willingness to learn and grow.
  • Open and creative mindset.
  • Good data and numerical aptitude, able to work with and understand datasets.
  • Exposure to tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI or Alteryx desirable but not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office beneficial.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability with examples of working with data.
  • Delivery oriented, motivated, energised to drive personal development.
  • Learner with initiative; initiative highly valued.
  • Completing accountancy or insurance qualifications encouraged.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven delivery examples.
  • Versatile, managing large volumes of work with changing priorities and tight time‑frames.
