The opportunity:
The Governance & Delegated team at Markel International is responsible for the 1st controls of our International Delegated Authority in respect of underwriting across all divisions and delegated claims covering our Wholesale, State National Global, Global Re and Global Specialty Divisions. In addition, we provide assurance from a Product and Underwriting Governance perspective for Wholesale and State National Global divisions.
The role of the Delegated Authority Manager is vital to support the effectiveness of Markel International’s Due Diligence process, and you will be a key member of the Governance & Delegated department’s management team.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring thorough due diligence reviews of coverholders, adhering to all internal policies and regulatory requirements. You’ll enhance and embed processes for Delegated Underwriting and Claims onboarding, ensuring compliance is consistently achieved. Overseeing the implementation of the Delegated workflow system, you’ll ensure it meets all functional requirements and produces the necessary management information outputs.
You’ll keep the Delegated Authority and Claims business monitoring tracker up to date, ensuring your team completes it effectively. By developing and aligning the Delegated Authority and Claims function, you’ll ensure quality and consistency in meeting KPIs and SLAs. You’ll also manage the post-bind activity process, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
Your role includes first-line due diligence management and oversight of global Service Company Arrangements, in line with agreed procedures and standards. You’ll foster close relationships with Governance, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, and Claims teams to ensure all regulatory requirements for Delegated business are met and documented. Additionally, you’ll co-chair the Delegated Oversight Group(s) in your area of responsibility and attend the Delegated Oversight Committee as needed. This position offers a dynamic and impactful opportunity to lead and innovate within the Delegated Authority and Claims space.
Our must-haves:
- Previous experience of working in Delegated Authority Management ideally from a Syndicate / Managing Agent / Lloyd’s of London perspective is essential.
- Experience of both International and UK consumer delegated authority business is required, with particular focus on UK binding authorities given recent regulatory changes in the UK Consumer Duty space.
- Robust knowledge of Lloyd’s DA regulation with regards to binders including knowledge of DCOM and ATLAS.
- Ability to think strategically and innovatively to aid in the development of the business.
- Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and organisational skills.
- Ability to guide, inspire, and manage their team or stakeholders towards achieving common objectives.
- Good and effective communicator – open, honest, and respectful.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Willingness to take responsibility and accountability in a collaborative manner.
- Ability to deliver work on time to a set deadlines.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
- Effective stakeholder management skills.
