An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Product Designer to work with a renowned company who design, manufacture and supply high quality homeware products to both the B2C & B2B market.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who holds a BA in industrial design / product design and is looking to kickstart their career with a company that can offer fantastic progression and development.
Working within the friendly product design team, you will design and develop products from initial concept through to final prototypes for internal brands and for leading national accounts such as John Lewis, Laura Ashley, Screwfix & Dunelm.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking an active role in the conceptualisation and design development of new products and concepts
- Planning and executing design projects based on given briefs and schedules, ensuring designs match briefs in all aspects of form, aesthetics, technical quality and costing
- Bringing fresh and innovative ideas at each phase of design development
- Communicating with team members in the design studio and across the business to enable the appropriate execution of projects
- Creating visual customer product presentations and liaise with our national account customers
- Determining materials, construction, colour and surface finishes
- Liaising directly with manufacturing partners, using existing developed products and components where necessary to reduce development lead times and increase speed to market
What You Will Need
- BA in Industrial Design or Product Design is essential
- Working knowledge and experience in the use of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
- Excellent hand drawing / sketching 2D visualisation skills
- Knowledge of any of the following design software and techniques in both 2D and 3D: Fusion 360, Solidworks, Creo, Rhino, 3DsMax
- The ability to visualise designs as 3D models & mock ups using our in-house design workshop
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with rendering packages such as Key Shot is an advantage but is not essential
