The Role

Are you an experienced power sector engineer with at least 10 years’ hands-on knowledge of conventional power generation? Do you combine deep technical expertise with the confidence to advise underwriters and global clients on complex industrial risks? If so, this Senior Insurance Power Risk Engineer opportunity could be your next step.

We are seeking a Senior Insurance Power Risk Engineer to join a well-established UK & Ireland Risk Engineering team. You will play a key role in strengthening and promoting a market-leading risk engineering practice. You will work closely with underwriters and clients across the power sector, including renewable energy, helping them understand, manage and reduce operational risks.

This is a fully remote role, with links to a London HQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk engineering surveys across the power sector, including renewable energy
  • Assess loss exposures in line with company standards and guidelines
  • Recommend practical loss prevention and operational risk management measures
  • Review external risk reports and provide technical feedback to underwriters
  • Produce high-quality reports within agreed timeframes
  • Support client meetings and presentations alongside underwriting teams
  • Help embed company risk engineering tools and standards
  • Build strong, professional relationships with clients
  • Keep up to date with technical developments across conventional and renewable power

The Person

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in conventional power generation.
  • Established experience as a power risk engineer within the insurance sector.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications: professional membership is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of turbine operations, maintenance, and failure characteristics of various proprietary gas turbines, such as GE, Toshiba, and Mitsubishi etc.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards.
  • Experience working across different cultures or international markets.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • You will enjoy balancing detailed technical work with client-facing responsibilities.
