The Electrical Testing, Inspection & Remedials Engineer is responsible for carrying out electrical inspection, testing, and associated remedial works within domestic properties and communal areas, primarily for Local Authorities and Social Housing clients working in the Lewisham area. The role ensures all electrical systems are safe, compliant with current regulations, and completed to a high standard while meeting client and company performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and associated remedial works in domestic and communal environments.
  • Ensure all works comply with current Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Complete all work in accordance with BS 7671 and NICEIC best practice.
  • Accurately risk assess working environments and manage site safety.
  • Complete jobs within agreed target times while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Carry out effective fault finding and demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical circuits.
  • Ensure vehicles are fully stocked to maximise first-time fix rates.
  • Complete electronic job reports and certification using a PDA or handheld device.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, clients, supervisors, and administrative staff.
  • Wear company uniform at all times and represent the business in a professional manner.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns or vulnerabilities via the company’s Code 4 system.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of company vehicle.
  • Dispose of waste in line with company policies and environmental procedures.
  • Participate in training and development as required.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in electrical testing and remedial works within domestic properties.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to fault find and diagnose electrical issues efficiently.
  • Competent IT skills, including electronic certification and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within Social Housing or Local Authority environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven contracts and KPI-led performance.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
  • NICEIC / equivalent accreditation (preferred).
