1 FTE / 35 hours per week. We welcome part‑time applications up to 1.0 FTE. Please indicate the total number of hours per week you would be able to work. Grade 2, £23,196.00 (pro‑rated for part time hours).

Role: Assist, monitor, and supervise customers in the Marjon Sports Centre. The role involves lifeguarding, setting up sporting activities, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Working hours cover the sports centre’s opening times: early shift 6 am‑2 pm, late shift 2 pm‑10:15 pm, Monday‑Friday; weekend hours 7:30 am‑5:30 pm.

Promote sport, health and wellbeing and lifeguard and prepare facilities within the Sport Centre. Ensure the health and safety of swimmers through vigilant supervision of the swimming pool in line with the Normal Operating Plan and Emergency Action Plan. Supervise the gym to ensure members are following the gym code of conduct. Ensure that all facilities are operational and maintained in accordance with all current legislation and statutory requirements, which may include some heavy lifting. Set up and dismantle equipment as required, ensuring that facilities are prepared and ready for bookings during allocated time slots. Occupy the help desk and deliver excellent customer service.

Applicant: Hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Have Level 2 fitness instructor qualifications and experience of working in a sports centre or health club. Be enthusiastic and passionate about higher education in general and Marjon specifically. Be calm, and able to use your own initiative. Be good at communicating with others and comfortable working as part of a team. Be willing to be flexible around working hours, including evening and/or weekend working.
