As deputy to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the technical department and leading the engineering team, including the watchkeeping teams. It will be your job to make sure that all engine room plant and machinery is thoroughly tested and maintained so that they’re always performing well, and that all maintenance work complies with relevant regulations. As Staff Chief Engineer, you’ll also oversee the testing of SOLAS equipment, keep maintenance records, liaise with shore teams, develop the ship’s asset management plan, and attend corporate social events. Meanwhile, you’ll visit different places, explore new worlds and gain experiences that stay with you for a lifetime.
To apply for Staff Chief Engineer Officer you will need:
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) for Motorships only (with no limitations).
- STCW High Voltage Management training certificate.
- Experience on board a cruise ship would be desirable, but not essential.
We believe in hiring people with the right attitudes and strengths over their competencies. In addition to a strong technical background and leadership skills, you will love problem solving, fixing things and being hands on. You will be self-motivated and dependable, and always keen to take on more work and help others. You will be a natural communicator, often asking questions and sharing knowledge, and able to easily adapt your style to suit the situation.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. As well as practical skills we will help you to develop your leadership skills, supervising junior officers, cadets and technicians. If you love problem solving and are a natural communicator with the determination to develop your career with a world-leading cruise company, join us on our journey.
