The Vacancy
Based at our Head Office in Felixstowe, Suffolk. We’re looking for a Junior IT Support Engineer to join our IT Team while also completing an apprenticeship specific to the role (Details below).

Maritime operates a range of IT equipment from PC’s, Printers, laptops to mobile devices through to software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and custom bespoke applications known as TOPS, Cyman, and VIPER, all of which are supported by the IT team together with various 3rd parties. We administer 750 users from our 2 Datacentres which house and run around 100 Windows and 10 SQL Servers. We also support and maintain all the Maritime offices around the UK from a hardware and network point of view.
You will be asked to work as part of the IT Support Team, we’re looking for someone to come in and begin to learn our junior roles before progressing through the ranks upon gaining experience. You will provide IT support to Maritime staff located in the UK via telephone, email, and face to face.
Maritime is a fast paced and action-packed business which will create various challenges that have to be solved therefore can-do attitude is a must. The role is best suited to someone quick thinking, well organised and good at problem solving as the Maritime IT Support team resolve circa 1500 tickets every month.

The role
- Alongside your apprenticeship course you will be working as a Junior IT Support Engineer responsible for investigating and resolving tickets that are passed your way, this is all completed on a 3rd party ticketing system we use to manage all tickets.
- Manage your own workload using the IT Support System (Manage Engine, ServiceDesk Plus)
- Provide advice and guidance to end users on good practice for the use of computing equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and triage basic software and hardware issues.
- Administration of user accounts through Microsoft Office 365 and Active Directory as well as administering accounts for 3rd party applications.
Skills essential to the role

- Some familiarity with Microsoft operating systems.
- High level of self-motivation with a desire to improve.
Skills of interest
- Full UK driving license.
- Aptitude for computing technology and aware of the latest technological developments.
- Ability to describe technical information in easy-to-understand terms.
You will be provided with training from Maritime Team members as well as 3rd parties to develop your knowledge and bring you up to speed with the fast-paced way in which we work at Maritime, IT experience could be beneficial but not required however an eager willingness to accept and meet challenges is a must!

We are looking for our new team member to complete a roll specific apprenticeship alongside working as a Junior IT Support Engineer. We’d aim to get you settled into the business and familiar with day-to-day processes and after circa 3 months, then look to start the apprenticeship.
