We are currently seeking a 400kV Senior Authorized Person (SAP) to support the implementation and operational safety of high-voltage electrical systems across offshore wind projects. This is a key role ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficient commissioning of electrical infrastructure.

Duration: ASAP - March 2027

Rotation: Mon Fri then to 14/14

Location: Grimsby & EU travel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full implementation of rsted Electrical Safety Rules, including the operation of a Safe System of Work.
  • Provide operational expertise for high-voltage systems including WTG, offshore substations, HV submarine, and onshore cables.
  • Supervise the safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations, and all associated MV/HV/LV equipment.
  • Oversee electrical operational activities to maintain the safety and reliability of the HV network.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities across project construction phases, ensuring seamless communication and workflow between stakeholders.
  • Take operational responsibility for entire substations.
  • Perform tasks in potentially adverse or emergency working conditions.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for specific work scopes as required.
  • Complete mandatory GWO and HUET training and maintain medical fitness certification.

Tasks & Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with rsted Electrical Safety Rules across sites.
  • Act as Senior Authorized Person, overseeing electrical safety and coordination.
  • Manage outages and network control alongside Control Engineers.
  • Maintain and update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and review electrical method statements.
  • Support Lead Commissioning Project Manager with progress updates and coordination.
  • Plan and lead commissioning activities and coordinate with National Grid.
  • Prepare and validate high-voltage switching schedules.
  • Deliver internal training programs and mentor new team members across projects.
  • Provide technical and engineering advice to work teams.
  • Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT).
  • Handle pre- and post-energization checks across the windfarm.
  • Set up safe work zones, grounding, and isolation procedures based on Work Requests.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and support both offshore and onshore rotations.
  • Perform administrative tasks in support of the Lead SAP.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Contribute to the projects commissioning management manual and quality documentation.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Document and report outcomes from FAT and SAT testing.
  • Verify and execute HV/MV/LV switching programs.
  • Provide input during design and planning phases regarding electrical systems.
  • Support resource and work activity planning.
  • Assist in authorization and assessment of personnel.
  • Maintain safe electrical working environments on-site.

Decision Authority & Responsibility:

  • Authority on MV/HV switching and isolation decisions.
  • Issue safety documentation under the rsted Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Manage electrical safety operations across project sites.

Requirements:

  • Recognized electrical qualifications relevant to high-voltage operations.
  • Proven experience (preferably offshore) in commissioning and operations within HV systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with onshore substation systems.
  • Valid and current GWO and HUET (with CA-EBS) certification as required.
