HM Coastguard (HMCG) is the operational arm of the MCA with responsibility for six coastguard functions - Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security and Emergency and Disaster management. HMCG has responsibility for the mobilisation, tasking, and organisation of appropriate resources to respond to persons at risk of injury or death on the cliffs and the shoreline of the United Kingdom. The oil and gas and offshore renewables industries pose significant risks to HMCG and the MCA and therefore this post is part of the headquarters branch ensuring the implementation of coherent and consistent national procedures, processes and strategies.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Regular attendance at meetings to provide assistance to the Offshore Energy Lead to ensure that consistent and coherent guidance and procedures continue to be developed.
- Undertake research through a variety of sources to help inform the development of clear and constructive procedures and guidance.
- Contribute to the development of procedures and guidance throughout the UK offshore energy domain, including the collation of expert guidance to the operational procedures leads to help monitor the implementation of coherent and consistent national procedures, processes and strategies.
- Working with the offshore energy lead to provide a coordinated service to the offshore energy industries.
- Assisting in preparing, delivering and reviewing training in SAR and emergency response procedures to key industry personnel.
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Demonstrable experience or knowledge of HMCG operations
- Experience of offshore oil and gas and/or renewable industry
- Experience of emergency response and/or emergency planning
- Good drafting and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and procedures both verbally and in writing
- Working with a diverse stakeholder community
- Competent with Microsoft Office software
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
Regular travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
