Join our Seafarer Operations team within the UK Customer Maritime Services Directorate, supporting the certification and endorsement of seafarers. As a Business Administration Officer, you will play a key role in our fee‑earning Certification Operation, managing the reallocation and processing of payments from seafarers, marine colleges, and training providers. You will also support wider business activities including data processing, financial forecasting, reconciliation, and continuous improvement projects. Using your strong attention to detail, you'll ensure high‑quality, accurate handling of applications while working at pace. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career within the MCA or the Civil Service. No maritime experience is required – just a commitment to delivering outstanding service to the public.

Responsibilities

  • Data processing and collation for business administrative tasks and projects to support the wider Certification Operation.
  • Contribute to and provide support for other business administrative tasks including improvement of working practices, ensuring all work is performed in line with Business service standards.
  • Process all accounts receivable from seafarers and companies and ensure all monies are correctly recorded (receipting govpay payments).
