About the role
We are looking for a BIM Design Engineer, a professional who would design and coordinate our HI-FOG® fire suppression systems within the client’s building models, working around site restraints and other building services. The successful candidate will initially be trained on their fire protection system and products by in-house trainers, and then drawing, designing and coordinating this system within client’s building models, working around site restraints and other building services. The successful candidate will have to be proactive in their approach to learning the system to be successful in the role. The candidate will be required to travel to various sites throughout the UK to complete survey/as-built works, as well as working from the office/remote under guidance from existing employees within the Marioff design department.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Creation of preliminary sales designs and variation cost using AutoCAD, Excel and Word for costing and quotation.
- Liaising with Solution Support team to confirm any deviations from the standard and receiving sign off.
- Liaising with Clients, Design, Sales and Operation teams to deliver projects on a wider basis.
- Produce Operational designs for installations of system with detailed dimensions utilizing both Revit and AutoCAD.
- Producing technical information required to deliver projects which include but not limited to: Zoning Layouts, Plant Layouts, Pump Schematic, System Schematic, Zone Valve Arrangement, Technical Submission, Interface Schedules, Cause & Effect Charts, Data Sheets, Hydraulic Calculations, NPSH calculations, assembling data sheets from in-house library and any other applicable supporting documents.
- Managing selected projects given in workload by design manager while having the ability to step in and support on other projects where required.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A construction-related education, preferably in Architecture, Building Services or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP & Revit.
- Preferably 5 years of design & modeling experience from positions with a similar scope.
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency and experience with MS Office tools, specifically Word and Excel.
- Team player and collaborative attitude, being able to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Highly ethical personality & ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- A solid understanding of buildings or architecture and at least a basic understanding of engineering.
- A proactive approach: the successful candidate will be proactive in learning, researching and becoming familiar with the system we sell so that they can design the system in accordance with our Design, Operation, Installation and Maintenance Manuals and any other applicable Engineering Statements.
