The Role
My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team near Worthing. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced design professional who enjoys combining hands-on mechanical design with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
Working closely with Principal Engineers, you will play a key role in delivering engineering projects, supporting design quality, and helping to develop the capability of the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components and assemblies, producing 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and supporting documentation
- Generate design release packs and engineering calculations to support design decisions
- Ensure designs meet company standards, engineering best practice and BS8888 requirements
- Review and approve engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Support project delivery by helping to achieve engineering milestones and programme objectives
- Contribute to technical problem-solving, design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions
- Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practice
- Assist in maintaining engineering processes, standards and design data management systems
About You
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role
- Previous experience, including: Machining, Castings, Injection moulding and fuel systems.
- Strong CAD and technical drawing experience
- Knowledge of engineering calculations and design validation
- Understanding of manufacturing and design-for-manufacture principles
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and engineering designs
- Strong communication, problem-solving and mentoring skills
- A proactive, detail-focused approach with a commitment to engineering excellence
This position would suit someone from an Automotive Engines, Marine Propulsion or Aerospace Engines Design team.
