Job Description
Job Title: O&M Mechanical Fitter\\nLocation: Portsmouth\\n\\n We are currently recruiting an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy Operations and Maintenance Team at a major maritime facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a varied role maintaining critical equipment and systems that keep the site operational.\\n\\n The Role You’ll be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure operational availability of the site. This will include working on a wide range of equipment such as heating systems, pumps, hoists, winches, saws, grinders, and more.\\n\\n Key duties include:\\n\\nDelivering safe and professional planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of mechanical systems and machinery.\\n\\nSupporting the boiler house team in maintaining the site's steam system.\\n\\nFault finding and rectification on mechanical systems, providing detailed defect reports.\\n\\nUsing mobile devices to manage and deliver work orders.\\n\\nWorking both independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach.\\n\\nParticipating in the on-call rota for out-of-hours maintenance requirements.\\n\\nEnsuring all work meets compliance, safety standards, and KPI requirements.\\n\\nBuilding positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.\\n\\nWhat we’re looking for:\\nCompleted mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent proven experience.\\n\\nNVQ Level 3 or similar in mechanical engineering (or working towards).\\n\\nExperience in mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repair.\\n\\nConfident with hand tools and workshop equipment.\\n\\nKnowledge of Health & Safety best practices and safe systems of work.\\n\\nIT literate with the ability to use maintenance software.\\n\\nFull UK driving licence.\\n\\nAbility to obtain security clearance.\\n\\nDesirable qualifications:\\nGas Safe or steam accreditation.\\n\\nExperience working to industry regulations and technical specifications.\\n\\nKey behaviours:\\nCollaborative team player with strong communication skills.\\n\\nProfessional, proactive, and safety-conscious.\\n\\nFlexible approach and ability to work under pressure.\\n\\nIf this sounds like something you would be interested, then hit apply or call Sarah on (phone number removed)!\\n\\nMarine Resources Recruitment Ltd acts as an employment agency for permanent and fixed term contract recruitment and as a recruitment business for the supply of contract workers.
