Marine Engineer

Location: Central London – River Thames

Job Type: Full Time | Permanent

Marine Resources are currently recruiting for a Marine Engineer for a full-time, permanent opportunity based in Central London on the River Thames.

Our client provides marine engineering services to a range of private and commercially operated vessels working on the Thames. Due to continued demand for their services, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with a hands‑on engineer who enjoys working across a varied fleet and in a dynamic operational environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of maintenance, servicing and refit projects, both afloat and during dockside works. No two days are quite the same, making it an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and problem‑solving in a busy marine setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and emergency repairs on marine engines, electrical systems and onboard machinery
  • Inspect, test and diagnose faults to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Support vessel repair and refurbishment projects both on the water and during dry dock periods
  • Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure all activities meet safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections and system performance

About You

  • Previous experience working as a Marine Engineer
  • Strong mechanical and fault‑finding skills across marine systems
  • Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems and onboard machinery
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small engineering team
  • A proactive, practical approach to maintenance and problem solving
