Marine Resources are currently recruiting for a Contract Marine Engineer to support a busy vessel fit out programme on the Isle of Wight. This is a hands-on engineering position working as part of a skilled build team carrying out the installation, alignment and commissioning of propulsion and onboard systems on vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and fit out of marine propulsion systems
  • Installation and commissioning of dual systems
  • Engine installation and alignment
  • Shaft installation and alignment
  • Propeller installation and set up
  • Mechanical fit out of vessel systems and associated equipment
  • Supporting commissioning and sea trial activities where required
  • Working from engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the build process

Suitable Experience

  • Previous experience as a Marine Engineer, Mechanical Fitter or Fit Out Engineer within boat building or marine refit environments
  • Strong understanding of propulsion systems and drivetrain installation
  • Experience installing and aligning engines, shafts and propellers
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience with commercial vessels, workboats or leisure craft would be advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team
