We’re currently working with a well-established and growing marine service provider to support the hire of a Maintenance Technician as they continue to expand their team based in Gosport, Hampshire.
This business operates as an independent yacht refit, repair, and maintenance centre, delivering high-quality workmanship across a wide range of projects. The team is made up of experienced shipwrights, joiners, marine engineers, and riggers, and they undertake everything from routine annual maintenance through to full refits on vessels up to 40m.
The Role
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with broad marine maintenance experience and a strong, practical approach to fault finding and repair. Responsibilities will include:
- Boat Systems Service & Repair: Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, and repair across onboard systems, including engines, steering, fuel systems, and general onboard equipment. You’ll be expected to identify root causes of faults and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
- Hull & Deck Maintenance: Undertaking all aspects of hull care, including surface preparation, antifouling, cutting and polishing, and installation of through-hull fittings, seacocks, and transducers to a high standard.
- Marine Plumbing: Installing, maintaining, and repairing freshwater, grey water, and raw water systems. This includes pumps, tanks, hoses, and associated fittings, as well as diagnosing leaks, blockages, and pump-related issues.
- Electrical Fault-Finding & Repair: Troubleshooting both DC and AC systems, identifying faults within wiring, connections, switches, and components. Confidence in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams is essential.
- GRP & Structural Repairs: Carrying out fibreglass repairs, including gelcoat work, osmosis treatment, and minor laminate repairs, along with associated structural work on decks, bulkheads, and fittings.
- Vessel Commissioning: Preparing new and pre-owned vessels for handover. This includes system checks, participation in sea trials, and final inspections to ensure everything is operating correctly and to a high standard.
- Workshop Standards: Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas, while adhering to safe working practices and contributing to a well-organised and efficient workshop environment.
