Operations Coordinator / Operations Manager (DOE) First Class Sailing | Southampton

First Class Sailing is a leading sailing school and marine training business based in Southampton.

We deliver a wide range of sailing courses, experiences and voyages, working with a fleet of yachts and a team of professional instructors and operational staff.

We are looking for an organised, practical and proactive Operations Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of our sailing operations.

This is a varied, hands-on role.

You will coordinate courses, instructors, vessels, equipment, stores, customers and suppliers, while also being heavily involved in customer service and sales.

You will have genuine responsibility for coordinating day-to-day operational activity and will be expected to take ownership of your areas of responsibility and pitch in with the wider team where required.

You will report directly to the Vice Principal.

For an experienced candidate with the right industry experience and aptitude, we may consider an appointment at Operations Manager level, with an appropriate adjustment to the remuneration package Do E.

What you will be responsible for…

Operations & Course Delivery Freelance Staffing Vessel Maintenance Procurement Compliance and Safety Administration / Compliance Customer Service and Sales A Role for Someone Who Gets Things done, This is not a purely office-based administration role.

We are looking for someone who is happy to move between the office, marina, vessels, stores and customers, depending on what the day requires.

You will need to be comfortable picking up the phone to a customer, organising an instructor, ordering a part, checking a yacht, dealing with a supplier or helping clean and prepare a vessel.

The successful candidate will be someone who sees what needs doing and gets on with it.

We are looking for someone who is

• Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Practical, proactive and willing to get involved.
• Confident communicating with customers, instructors, suppliers and colleagues.
• Comfortable speaking to customers on the telephone and dealing with sales enquiries.
• Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Commercially aware and comfortable working within budgets.
• A good problem solver who remains calm when plans change.
• Confident using computers, databases and standard office software.
• Interested in sailing and the marine industry.
• Reliable, flexible and willing to pitch in where required.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in the marine, sailing, leisure or tourism industries.
• Experience working in an operational coordination role.
• Sailing qualifications such as Competent Crew, Day Skipper or Yachtmaster.
• Current or previous RYA instructor qualifications.
• Experience coordinating staff, customers, suppliers or logistics.
• Experience working with booking systems or customer databases.

Marine experience is desirable but not essential. Training and development will be provided for the right candidate.
